"Achievement and Enjoyment are the front and back of the coin of value in life. You can't have one without the other, no more than you can have a coin with only one side. Trying to live a one sided life is why so many "Successful" people are not happy, or not nearly as happy as they should be."

So says Jim Bird, publisher of Work-Life Balance.com. While more and more accomplished executives are considering the benefits of interim engagements and projects as a way to achieve a better work-life balance, it's not easy to find agreement on just what it is. Bird's organization and web site can be helpful for those who are trying to strike just the right balance. As he notes, it is very much an individual choice, and there are no one-size-fits-all, cookie cutter answers.

The beauty of the interim executive engagement model for many executives is the great flexibility it can give you to design your own work life in a way that allows for the rest of your life. More tips and advice from Bird's group can be found here.
