With all this talk about an economic slump or even a recession and the state of the banking industry, I’ve really been thinking about the importance of implementing a new roadmap for your business for tough times. This roadmap gives you something to continue your successes and a way to stay focused in turbulent times.
As we’ve seen with the news of Bear Stearns and other financial institutions that have followed in their footsteps, navigating through difficult times is getting increasingly difficult and it’s time to inspire innovation in the way that companies deliver business results. Today’s organizations are looking to access deep knowledge and expertise on a short term or project basis to manage their business in an extremely efficient and cost effective way. They lead with a core senior management team and then augment it with the senior skills they need to execute on their current initiatives. When those are complete, they dismiss them at no cost, and bring in the new resources they need to manage through the next initiative. So, when results and cost matter, organizations need to map out a new way to manage their business; one that lets them engage the resources they need, when they need them, for a price they are willing to pay.
New businesses like EPOCH, that act as brokers bringing together the needs of companies with the talents of accomplished executives, are beginning to emerge in the marketplace. They can help companies begin to map out this new way to work and to deliver business results.
Anyone else out there have ideas for a new kind of roadmap? I’d love to hear them…
